Junior School Summer Concert
On Tuesday evening the Junior School pupils filled the West Road Concert Hall with music, enthusiasm and excitement at our annual Summer Concert. The evening was a terrific success, showcasing the immense talent within our Junior School, and it was wonderful to see such passionate performances.
Our new Guitar Ensemble, Concert Band, Recorder Ensemble and String Ensemble performed at the Summer Concert for the first time, and it was brilliant to see so many musicians performing in these new and exciting additions to our Music department. A particular highlight of the evening was the Year 5 and Year 6 Choir’s performance of School Song, from Matilda the Musical. The girls worked so hard on this piece and are to be congratulated on such a fantastic stage production, full of character, choreography and confidence. The full school choir finale performance of Oye was a terrific note on which to end the concert and the girls gave all of their energy, singing this song with pride and joy as members of our Junior School.
We are so often reminded of how talented our pupils are and events like the Summer Concert show that there really is no limit to what they can achieve; it was a huge celebration of music and a terrific way to celebrate the school year.
A huge thank you to our peripatetic teachers, Mrs Oldham, Ms Townend, Mr Vellacott, Mr Parsons, Mr Medlock and Mr O’Mahony, who joined together to create a terrific staff band and accompanied and conducted many ensembles throughout the evening. Thank you also to the members of our multi-talented teaching staff, Miss Agata Wygnanska, Mr Andrew Severy, and Mrs Sonia Gears (Senior School Acting Head of Music) for their support and musical talents across a range of instruments, and of course Miss Elise Hickey, Junior School Head of Music, for organising the event from conception, coaching the girls and conducting on the night.
