Junior School summer concert raises the roof
The Junior School celebrated another successful annual Summer Concert at West Road Concert Hall this term with enthusiastic performances from a whole range of choirs and instrumental ensembles, including strings, guitars, and woodwind. It was a tremendous evening, with the whole Junior School community coming together to raise the roof!
Starting with the String Ensemble's beautifully elegant rendition of Handel's Menuet in D, to the moving finale of Malala's Dream by the Whole School Choir, the evening was rich in variety and talent. Six choral performances from Bella Voce, Allargando, Pre-Prep Choir, the Year 3 and 4 Full Choir, Year 5 and 6 Choir and the Whole School Choir, were interspersed with woodwind, chamber, guitar and recorder performances of lively pieces such as Banana Tango and Hornpipe.
The concert was an opportunity to showcase how diversity is valued at St Mary’s, with songs in six languages and an equal representation of male and female composers. Well done to the girls for a thoroughly enjoyable performance and a huge thank you to all the staff, students and parents who helped make this an amazing evening!
