Junior careers week
Last week our Junior School pupils enjoyed their first dedicated careers week. The girls had the opportunity to hear from and ask questions to various professionals about their careers – and it was very interesting to observe how the girls perceive some of these roles, and the depth of their questions.
Mrs Eschbach and Mrs Hay from Form the Future (and both parents of Year 2 pupils) were terrific in helping to organise and host the event, which saw a number of assemblies on different days – where the girls heard from fashion designers, sports women, and engineers – before the careers fair which took place on Friday afternoon for Years 5 and 6. At the careers fair the girls were able to talk to representatives from: NAPP Pharmaceuticals; Lloyds Bank; QA; The Junction; Wood Green Animal Shelter; and Interserve Construction.
The girls were interested to hear the common thread of the skills required to find success in many of the professions: communication; organisation; perseverance; resilience; and creativity, to name just a few. All of these attributes are developed through our Enrichment Programme and ‘lived out’ through our school’s living ethos.
