International Food Fair
The school’s annual International Food Fair took place on Monday 7 November, with 19 stalls offering cultural cuisine, entertainment and education, and approximately 200 visitors. Intended to run from 4.00pm to 5.15pm, the event was such a success that most of the food had been eaten up by 4.25pm and so the event closed a little early!
The students who were hosting the stalls were boarders whose homes are abroad, day girls who want to celebrate their cultural heritage from the UK as well as further afield, and any others who wanted to celebrate different cultural links. The girls came in to school the Saturday before to cook their cuisine, and the Food Technology Room smelled wonderful with dishes being concocted from countries including Denmark, USA, Spain, South Korea, South Africa, Wales, The Scilly Isles, Sudan, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few. The stall holders created games for each stall and also decorated their stalls with maps, flags, pictures, and props, such as wooden statues for Sudan. Some students even dressed up in traditional costume.
