International CoSpace Online Challenge
Despite the inevitable cancellation of the ‘RoboCupJunior UK National CoSpace Final’ (and all of the related international competitions) due to COVID-19, some of our Year 6 girls were determined not to let this prevent them from competing in a robotics competition!
The ‘International CoSpace Online Challenge (iCool) 2020’ has been organised by the ‘RoboCup Asia-Pacific’ international committee to provide an opportunity for students around the world to take part in CoSpace Virtual Robotics Challenges remotely, from home, during this difficult period. Over 600 students from 25 different countries will be competing in a variety of categories and age groups over this coming weekend.
On Tuesday evening, eight of our Year 6 girls took part in the Qualifying Round of the ‘U12 CoSpace Rescue Competition’ and after a very intense evening of coding, all of them successfully submitted their programs and have qualified to progress to the next round on Saturday. Many congratulations to all of them for their hard work and perseverance in coming to grips with the difficulties of competing remotely, and as individuals rather than as part of a team. Many thanks also to their parents for all of their support until late on Tuesday night!
The girls are really looking forward to competing on Saturday and we look forward to reporting back on their achievements. Good luck to all concerned!
