Intermediate Maths Challenge

On Thursday 2 February our Year 9 and Year 10 top set mathematicians took part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, an hour and a half multiple choice paper. 18 students gained certificates, and five scored highly enough to be put through to the next stage of the competition: the Pink Kangaroo, for Year 10, the Grey Kangaroo, for Year 9, and the Caley for the highest scoring Year 9 student, Jiyoung S. The next stage will be held on Thursday 16 March. It is quite an achievement for a Year 9 student to gain the best mark in the school, a gold certificate, and entry to the Caley, which could lead on to an invitation to one of the UKMT summer school activities. Well done to each of the girls and especially to Jiyoung!
