Hockey triumphs
Congratulations to the U14 Year 9 B hockey team who competed in the B team district tournament last week and came out as district champions! The team saw off all of their opponents on the day with superb play by all involved. The Year 9 A team won two matches at their district tournament but unfortunately lost one which prevented them from qualifying for the semi-final. Well done girls for all of your efforts.
It was the turn of the U13 girls on Wednesday 14 October who took part in the U13 hockey county championships. The team consisted of girls from Year 6 to Year 8. It is the first time the U13s have entered this tournament in a long time and they did themselves proud. In the group stages the girls narrowly lost out on a chance to qualify for the quarter finals, losing to The Perse 1-0 and drawing to King’s Ely 0-0 in two very close encounters. Lizzie H. must get a special mention for her incredible saves. The girls went on to play Thomas Deacon Academy; the match ended in a 0-0 draw despite some excellent scoring opportunities. This set up the last match to be against Stephen Perse Foundation where the girls really found their best play, winning 2-0. Francesca K. scored a lovely flick into the goal as did Charlotte L. with some superb post play. The girls learnt a lot from this experience and should be very proud of their achievements this year.
