Hockey success - District Champions!
The Under 16 team took part in the district hockey preliminary tournament on 1 October. The girls played against two other schools which were both playing for a spot in the final. The girls played exceptionally well, winning all the games they played, enabling them to qualify for the district final. The district final took place on 8 October against all the other qualifying schools from the other leagues. The girls played against 3 schools. A slow start in their first match led to a team discussion and team bonding, after which the girls played their next 2 games with fight and determination to win the tournament. The girls won 2-0 in their game against St Bede’s and Comberton and 1-0 against Impington. By winning all three of their games the girls won the District Tournament, making St Mary’s Under 16 girls the current district hockey winners.
The Under 15 hockey team took part in the Under 16 district B team tournament. The girls played 3 games against IVC, Bottisham and Linton. The scores for those games were a win 3-0 against IVC, a draw against Bottisham and a win 1-0 against Linton, making them the joint B team winners in the Under 16 district tournament.
