History trip to Berlin
From Wednesday 29 March to Saturday 1 April our GCSE History students visited sites of historical significance in Berlin to supplement their learning about Weimar, Nazi and Cold War Germany. The group visited the Reichstag building, which was the seat of the Weimar Republic government until it was seized by the Nazis in 1933; the Berlin Wall; the 1936 Olympic stadium, which one student said was very grand and an example of Nazi propaganda; Sachsenhausen concentration camp, which was a Nazi concentration camp used primarily for political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945; and the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial.
