High flying Year 3 pupils
This week plane enthusiast and friend of the school, Mr Kirkby, kindly visited Year 3 to give the girls a talk on ‘flight’. The girls have been studying this as a topic so it was a real added benefit to their learning to hear how the ‘design’ of birds’ wings enables them fly. We are very grateful to Mr Kirkby for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm. To extend the girls’ learning on this topic the group also visited the International War Museum in Duxford this week and saw first-hand some examples of amazing machines that helped to shape our history – for instance getting up close to the incredible Spitfires that were flown in the Battle of Britain and seeing the interior placement of the nuclear bomb on the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
