German exchange
Last week the school welcomed seven students from Germany in to school as part of our exchange programme. Two of the students stayed in the boarding house with their St Mary's School, Cambridge exchange partners, giving them the opportunity to experience life as a boarder, whilst the other girls stayed with their host families in Cambridge.
The exchange students integrated into life at school very quickly and easily, and enjoyed attending lessons with our girls – joining in with classes taught in English when their timetable of activities allowed. In turn, our students were able to practise the German they have learned in class with willing partners. At the weekend the group enjoyed exploring Cambridge and indulging in fun activities; including visits to the Round Church and The Fitzwilliam Museum, a trip to the cinema, and punting on the river. As well as joining our girls in attending lessons, the exchange students also journeyed further afield to visit both London and Ely.
We are due to go to Essen for our part of the exchange during the Easter break, and staff and students alike are very much looking forward to experiencing the rich and varied cultural heritage there.
