Fantastic Physicists
Three of our Lower Sixth students have been preparing for the AS British Physics Olympiad which took place on Friday 10 March. Congratulations to all three girls - Jesslyn F., Titiana H., and Selena Y. - for working so hard ahead of the challenge and gaining such excellent experience. Particular congratulations to Titiana for achieving a Silver award, and to Selena for achieving a Gold award. Such was Selena's score (30/50, which puts her in the top 4.6 percent nationally, with the number entrants being in the thousands) and detail of answer that she is one of only 12 students nationally to be invited to this year’s British Astro Physics camp, to be held at Oxford University in early April. It is a prestigious event running over four days, with all expenses paid within Oxford University, with the overall purpose of the camp being to meet other students, to solve problems across a range of topics, and for the university to select a team of five (plus a reserve) to represent the UK at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in November 2017. Of the 12 students invited, Selena is one of only two female students. We are especially thrilled since Selena is the first of our students to have been invited to such an event and look forward to hearing how Selena finds the experience after the Easter break!
