Fairtrade breakfast
Ethical sourcing is a key objective of the Fairtrade Foundation – an organisation which our school is proud to support. As a Fairtrade School we have been celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight from 29 February to 13 March which, this year, has focused on issues of food security using the strapline: “Sit down for breakfast, stand up for farmers!” The fortnight’s campaign highlights Martin Luther King’s famous thought: “before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you’ve depended on more than half the world”.
On Friday 26 February Junior School girls enjoyed a very successful Fairtrade breakfast to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight. Pupils and parents feasted on a selection of Fairtrade goodies, including bananas, coffee, tea and croissants, and raised over £100 for the Fairtrade Foundation.
