Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award expedition
Over the weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May 45 girls, accompanied by nine members of staff, took part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award assessed expedition. The weather was bright, but cool, as teams set off from Audley End, Newport and Elsenham rail stations, carrying all of their equipment with the aim of navigating to the camp site at Debden Green via their prepared routes. On arrival at the site the girls set up their tents, cooked a very welcome hot meal and settled down for their overnight stay – where temperatures dropped to a cool four degrees. Sunday dawned bright and warm and the teams successfully completed the task of navigating to the meeting points. The expedition was completed by all and the girls managed to provide moments of entertainment for the staff with their unique efforts at pitching tents and preparing meals!
