Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition
Last weekend 39 of our Year 11 students, with one of our Australian exchange visitors, and three Lower Sixth students, went to the Peak District for their Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold Award practice expeditions. This involved an orientation walk around Ravenstor Youth Hostel, where the girls stayed on the first night, followed by three days walking with two nights of camping.
The group experienced all weathers on the trip, and worked well in teams to navigate effectively. The girls coordinated the cooking of evening meals on camping stoves and dishes varied from fajitas without the fajitas (!) to a very tasty looking stew! The girls will now be preparing for their next expedition at Easter in the Yorkshire Dales.
