Dramatic moments
On Tuesday our Year 10 English students and Year 11 Drama students saw An Inspector Calls performed at the Cambridge Arts Theatre. J. B. Priestley's celebrated thriller did not disappoint and it seemed particularly poignant to be watching this play at a time when social inequality and division are consistently being discussed in the media and remain hotly debated national issues. The story of the Birling family and their role in the tragic demise of a young working class woman, slowly uncovered by the mysterious Inspector Goole, retains its dramatic power to shock and was deeply compelling.
On Monday the St Mary’s School, Cambridge cast and crew of The Comedy of Errors enjoyed a fantastic workshop at the Mumford Theatre with the Shakespeare Schools Festival theatre practitioners. The Comedy of Errors is this year’s lower school production, to be performed on Monday 9 November at the Mumford Theatre as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Tickets are available from the Mumford Theatre box office.
Next week, the upper school production of The Spaceman takes place on Wednesday and Thursday. To book, please contact the Senior School office by emailing JBauld@stmaryscambridge.co.uk.
