CoSpace Virtual Robotics Taster Day for Year 6
On Tuesday 17th October, 14 of our Year 6 girls participated in a ‘CoSpace Virtual Robotics Taster Day' at BT Headquarters in Martlesham Heath and took part in a series of practical sessions focusing on different aspects of programming ‘CoSpace’ Virtual Robots. The day culminated in a team competition during which the girls put their new programming skills to the test against teams from other schools. This was one of a number of similar sessions leading up to the ‘UK National RoboCupJunior CoSpace Championships’ in June.
The teams had two hours to program their robot to compete against another team's robot and collect as many coloured objects as possible. All of the objects had to be deposited in the orange 'drop zone' before the end of the three minute competition time and bonus points were also awarded for specific actions. The competition was contested by 53 teams, with each team playing three matches.
Congratulations to our Year 6 team for finishing sixth place overall and also to our girls who scored the highest individual match score of the day. We are now looking forward to the next stage of the competition later this year.
