Classics A Level students enjoy lectures at the University of Cambridge
Our Classics A Level students, who between them are studying a combination of Latin, Classical Civilisation and Classical Greek, recently visited the University of Cambridge to hear world-class professors deliver superbly interesting lectures. Their presentations on ideas like skin colour and racism in the Ancient World, the controversially subversive nature of the Aeneid, and the cheeky nature of Latin love poetry stretched the girls' knowledge and challenged them to think about the topics they had learnt in school in a completely different way. We also fitted in a wander around the Cast Gallery in the Faculty of Classics and discussed which piece we would like to have in the entrance way of our homes (some that the girls chose were impractically huge). We all very much enjoyed this very valuable day with its insight into university lectures and novel ways of thinking about ancient ideas.
