Bronze Qualifying Expedition
On the weekend of the 6 and 7 May 63 Year 10 students completed their qualifying expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award. Over the course of the weekend they carried all their equipment and supplies in their rucksacks, which weighed up to 12 kilos (or, in other words, no more than a quarter of their body weight). All groups demonstrated that they could navigate with competence and that they could work well as a team to complete the six hours of planned activity required each day. They were praised by their assessors for excellent camp craft, good meal planning and cooking on the camp stoves. The girls will now need to create and present their group presentation on their expedition aim in order to complete this aspect of their award. They will then need to make the finishing touches to their Volunteering, Physical and Skill reports to achieve their well-deserved Bronze Awards. Congratulations to all the girls for their hard work!
