Bright Futures for Year 7 and Year 8 students
Bright Futures Ltd returned to school at the end of February to run their ever popular ‘Blast off’ series of workshops for Year 7 and Year 8 students, which begin to prepare the girls for the adult world of work. The series is an excellent fit with the school’s Teaching and Learning focus, encouraging a ‘growth mind-set’ through the school curriculum. The theme for the Year 7 workshop was that everyone has an amazing brain, and that everyone is skilled in at least one of the eight acknowledged skill sets. A new addition to the workshop this year saw the girls also learning about ’growth mind-set’ theory. The Year 8 programme has also been reworked so that, after a brief recap of the girls’ Year 7 experiences, the group embarked on a series of three mental and creative challenges. The first was Dragon’s Den themed, another was Dr Who inspired, and the final challenge was to design a disposable Cadbury’s Cream Egg cup – which brought the noise to crescendo pitch!
