Boarders see 'The Making of Harry Potter'
During our trip to The Making of Harry Potter, we saw a great many interesting things which intrigued and fascinated us as fans of both the books and the movies. Seeing how the environments were achieved via sets, props and costumes was both informative and awe-inspiring as it was plain to see the long hours of intricate work that had gone into designing and creating the sets that had been essential to bringing the books to life. It was amazing to be able to see the original sets in person: the Great Hall with its real York stone flagged floor and epic fireplaces and Gringotts Bank were stand out sets. The special effects showcased were breath-taking - the dragon, especially, was so amazingly realistic that it took us a few seconds to realise it was a projected image! We also enjoyed shopping for merchandise at the end of the tour; it was fascinating to see how iconic characters, symbols and other recognizable features of the franchise had been recreated into items to purchase.
