Boarders in Bristol
A group of 13 Year 7 to Year 10 boarders visited Bristol for the weekend, arriving in the city on the afternoon of Saturday 15 October, when the girls caught a first glimpse of the busy and vibrant city. The group headed to M-Shed, part of Bristol Museums, to see Black History Month: Back to our Roots, in which Dionna Draper's soul choir performed. Next the group visited the M- Shed mueseum and viewed the exhibits, which showcased Bristol’s past, to learn about the city’s involvement with the slave trade.
After taking a walk through Bristol, passing many features along the way including the cathedral and a tree of shoes, the girls took a guided tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom BruneI, and crossed the bridge to take in the splendid views.
On Sunday morning the group set off on a walk along the impressive Bristol Harbour to The Matthew of Bristol boat and the SS Great Britain – a boat that was also designed by Brunel. The boat is rich in history and an example of spectacular British technology that was enjoyed by all. Lunch was taken at the Falafel King before the visit was concluded with a walk to the nearby village of Clifton, and a spot of shopping.
