Boarders begin 24,250 mile global exercise challenge
St Mary's boarders have begun a challenge to run, walk, cycle, swim, dance or horse ride their way around the world to collectively 'travel' 24,250 miles.
A route has been carefully planned to incorporate every home country of our current international student community and boarding staff, students and their families are all working together to build up the miles, celebrating their 'arrival' in each location along the way.
To inspire participation, prizes are going to be awarded for those who contribute most regularly, with each individual logging their distances completed online in miles, steps or time taken.
Arrival at each destination is marked by a 'postcard'. As we write, the intrepid challengers have already successfully reached Wales (529.3 miles) and are now heading towards Peru, which demands an ambitious target of 5,588 miles. The most notable contributor so far is Nicky L, who has single-handedly accumulated 138.9 miles (and counting) ... but there's a long road ahead.
