Bateman House boarders
The first ‘proper’ weekend of term in Bateman House – where our Sixth Form girls board – started with a bang, a crash, a few somersaults and lots of falling; the girls were playing Nintendo Mario Kart. Shouts of ‘oh no!’, ‘I died again’, and ‘how to do I turn round?’ were accompanied by shrieks of laughter as cars sailed off the side of rainbow roads. The Upper Sixth girls who returned to Bateman House for their second year welcomed the Lower Sixth boarders to their new surroundings, and to the game. Computer games gave way to dancing, to tunes by Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the theme song from Aladdin.
Saturday was a much more relaxed affair with many girls going out for lunch – except those who preferred to stay in to avoid the miserable weather. The day ended with everyone gathering to watch Jumanji, followed by PS I Love You. Sunday saw sunshine, and Bateman House’s first baking of the year; lemon and honey cupcakes with lemon butter icing. It was a true team effort and we are sure that BBC’s Bake Off judges, Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, would have been impressed with the presentation and delicious taste of the 36 cupcakes made.
