Art Café raises funds for Arthur Rank Hospice
Head of Art, Mrs Gill Clifford, established an Art Café in the Art Centre for exclusive use by GCSE and A Level Art students, and since December visitors to the café have been fundraising through purchasing snacks and drinks for the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge. Four Year 10 students, Isabella F-C., Cate B., Jessica L., and Alice P, all regular visitors to the café before and after school, welcomed Lauren Maitland from the hospice to visit the café for coffee and cake, but also to be presented with a cheque for £250, raised in the café. The girls explained that the charity was chosen to receive the funds raised as so many people locally have been positively affected by the hospice’s support of loved ones. In addition to the funds raised, Isabella also volunteers in a local Arthur Rank Hospice shop, and Mrs Clifford’s family recently donated an exquisite train set to the hospice. Well done to all involved, even to those who have paid £1 for a pop-tart for breakfast before school – it all helps to support such a fantastic cause!
