Art and Photography students head to the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich
On Wednesday 5 February the Art department invited all of the Year 12 and 13 Art and Photography students to spend the morning at The Sainsbury Centre in Norwich. The centre houses a fantastic art collection from around the world including notable works by artists such as Henry Moore, Alberto Giacometti and Francis Bacon. The group enjoyed sketching and photographing the inspiring artworks in the tranquil setting that the centre offers.
“It was inspiring how art from around the world was exhibited in one beautifully curated room”. Molly P., A Level Fine Art student
In the afternoon the group experienced what higher education in Art is like by participating in a sculpture workshop led by Desmond Brett, a senior lecturer at Norwich University of The Arts. They were challenged to describe artworks they had experienced at The Sainsbury centre and then recreate the forms in three dimensional forms.
A Level Fine Art student Honor B. said: “It got me really excited about going to Art School, I found seeing the students' studio spaces really interesting.”
