An evening of music-making: student gives magical piano recital

Gerri S., St Mary’s Young Pianist of the Year 2017-18, gave a fantastic piano recital at West Road Concert Hall last week. Gerri played seven pieces of Eastern music and four pieces of Western music beautifully; it was such a treat listening to such an accomplished, talented young lady. Her performance included three works by Chopin, and pieces by Peixun Chen and Joe Hisaishi. Gerri started learning the piano at the tender age of six, and has made rapid progress through various piano competitions since then: she won a trophy at the Cambridge Music Festival in 2017, and also won a place in the National Grand Final of the Xinghai Cup in China. Well done Gerri for a lovely evening of music-making, it was a great way to start off the summer holidays.
