An appearance of penguins
There was great excitement last week as Year 1 pupils began their new topic for this half term: Antarctica. Returning to the Year 1 classroom after break, it was Yao Yao who first spotted one of the 50 little toy penguins that had appeared around the room, sitting on the window sill. Suddenly everyone realised that there were penguins everywhere. The girls listened to Vaughan Williams' Sinfonia Antarctica while watching amazing footage showing the stunning scenery in The Antarctic, and then began to compare the environment they were seeing with their own homes in Cambridgeshire. Snow fall and frost over the weekend will have been very appropriate indeed for any of the girls who saw some near their homes!
