Advent adventures
Just in time to mark the beginning of Advent, a group of 35 boarders and day students visited the German Christmas market in Birmingham – the largest outdoor German Christmas market in Britain – on Saturday 28 November. Birmingham is twinned with Frankfurt, and many stall-holders and their produce have arrived straight from Frankfurt. Those girls who study German were given a resource pack to consolidate their learning of vocabulary on the theme of Christmas.
As well as the Christmas market, the younger girls also visited Birmingham Museum, which was celebrating its 130th anniversary. The group looked at the Pre-Raphaelite collection and the Staffordshire Hoax. The girls were pleased to battle the cold weather by sampling various German treats and warm drinks.
