A Level Art and Photography students enjoy a Zoom workshop with illustrator Lauren Hellier
On Tuesday 9th of February, the Visual Arts Department at St Mary’s Cambridge was delighted to be able to offer all A Level Art and Photography students a Zoom workshop with illustrator Lauren Hellier.
This was an exciting opportunity to speak to a professional artist and understand the beautiful world of illustrations. Student Cristina HP said of the workshop; “It was an engaging and interactive workshop and I loved learning about the styles and the unique details in her illustrations. I also loved creating a crab illustration whilst she talked us through a variety of mark making techniques- it was a fun interactive workshop!” Bella T also commented
“I really enjoyed seeing Lauren's unique and beautiful artworks and learning where she finds her inspiration.”
The workshop was attended by both Year 12 and Year 13 students, during which they developed ‘sea creature’ illustrations focus on their use of line, form, and tone. Students where able to discuss with Lauren what inspired her career in illustration.
