Year 11 and Year 13 successfully complete Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold Award Expeditions

Year 11 and Year 13 successfully complete Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold Award Expeditions

This October, Year 11 and Year 13 took to the Yorkshire Dales to earn their Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards, putting the skills learned during their summer practice expeditions to the test. This internationally recognised award aims to cultivate independence, new skills and teamwork.

The teams navigated expertly through the wonderful scenery during their Year 11 Silver award expedition, the second level of the assessment, led by Mrs Shercliff from 7-10 October, and the Year 13 Gold expedition, the highest level, led by Mrs Norman from 7-11 October. The weather was spectacular, and Mrs Norman reports that the students supported each other well in their teams and impressed their assessors. All the girls successfully achieved their Silver and Gold expedition sections during their assessed trip.

The Duke of Edinburgh team wants to congratulate the girls on their achievement and encourage them to complete any outstanding sections of their awards so that they can receive their certificates. The school is looking forward to distributing the over 80 certificates, as we finally catch up from the pandemic.

Thanks are due to Mrs Leighton-Scott, Mrs Wilson, Mr Mallabone, Miss Dutton, Miss Dickson and Miss Spore for their support and expertise.
