Students enjoy Learning Lunch with finance expert
Last week Sharon Bell, a parent of one of our current Year 7 pupils, talked to our students about her career in finance for a Sixth Form Learning Lunch. She was really inspiring and engaging and clearly is very passionate about her job.
After discussing investment banking, and talking about the positives and negatives of her career, she gave our students some key pieces of advice, including:
- how important a sandwich year can be as part of a degree (which is a paid experience) - around 90% of individuals will then often get a full time job based on a placement
- the best way to achieve success in this field is through having a secure general knowledge, so subscribing to The Financial Times, keeping up to date with politics and potentially having knowledge of programming or a foreign language can be important
