National wins for Art and Photography Sixth Form students

Two St Mary's Sixth Form students have won prizes at the national level of the Rotary Young Photographer and Young Artists Competitions 2023.

Chloe F., an honorary photography scholar, has come third in the national round of the photography competition, following on from being overall winner in the senior age group and then winning the East Anglia District competition. Her image, 'The Heights of London' was submitted for the photography category 'The Beauty of Architecture' and has earned her a trophy and a prize.

Eloise S., a fellow Sixth Form Student, has also won third place in the national senior art category 'Sunrise and Sunsets'. Her beautiful acrylic canvas ‘Llanddwyn Island’, was, similarly, a winner in the senior category and then the regional category of the competition.

The Young Photographer Competition is a well-established and successful competition promoted by Rotary Great Britain and Ireland (Rotary GBI). The Rotary Club has also launched a Young Artists Competition, with a view to inspiring young people to get creative and encourage them to use traditional or contemporary methods to develop artworks. These are both three-stage competitions designed to support and encourage the development of photographic and artistic skills consisting of District, Regionals, and Nationals each all categories gain thousands of entries.
