Year 8 enter the world of chocolate making at Cadbury World
Year 8 had an amazing time visiting Cadbury World as part of their Academic Curriculum Enrichment Day. Starting with a lecture on the history and location of Bourneville and the takeover by Kraft, we heard the reasons behind Cadbury's switch from Fairtrade to Cocoa Life. The latter gives all the benefits of Fairtrade but with the added benefits of sustainable farming initiatives, diversifying rural economies in Ghana (Cadbury's main cocoa provider) and protecting the environment. Indeed the switch was prompted by fears there would be a cocoa shortage in the near future! Afterwards we held on tight in the 4D cinema and toured Cadbury World A big thank you to all of Year 8 for their impeccable behaviour and to the staff who helped run the trip so successfully.
