St Mary's Community welcomes incoming Head Girl in handover assembly
At St Mary's School, Cambridge, the Head Girl handover is a cherished tradition that symbolises the seamless transition of student leadership and the perpetuation of the School's core values. This event not only honours the contributions of the outgoing Head Girl and her team but also welcomes the incoming leaders who will guide the student body in the forthcoming academic year.
In a recent handover assembly, the school community gathered to bid farewell to the outgoing Head Girl, CeCe V-F., and her deputies, Alice. and Lara. CeCe reflected on her tenure, expressing gratitude to her leadership team and the entire student body. She emphasised the importance of self-discovery and encouraged students to embrace both academic and personal growth during their time at St Mary's. Addressing her successor, Vinnie H., CeCe offered practical advice:
“Be strong, stand your ground, be assertive.”
The assembly then celebrated the introduction of new Head Girl, Vinnie H., who has been a part of the St Mary's community since Year 9. Vinnie’s journey through the School has instilled in her a profound passion for positive change, growth, and unity. Supported by Deputy Heads Rosie D. and Trinity Y., along with a dedicated team of prefects, Vinnie is poised to uphold and enhance the School's ethos. In her inaugural address, she pledged unwavering support to every member of the community.
Vinnie is most looking forward to meeting girls from across the Schools and in particular, working with the girls at the Junior School.
We asked Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Rebecca Landshoff about what she can see for Vinnie as Head Girl, she said:
“I can already see that the huge range of activities in which she takes part in will make her a truly accessible and popular head girl with all our St Mary's students.”
The Head Girl handover at St Mary's is more than a ceremonial event; it is a testament to the School's commitment to fostering leadership, resilience, and a sense of community among its students. As each cohort passes the torch to the next, the legacy of empowerment and mutual support continues to thrive.
We cant wait to see all that Vinnie and her team will achieve this year.
