GCSE artists mix creativity and mathematics to find a little perspective

Girls in Year 10 have enjoyed developing their artistic skills as they explore the rules of perspective, inspired by Renaissance artists and contemporary work.

Students have produced brilliant work whilst exploring the rules of perspective when working in 2D. Continuing their GCSE Art and Design studies via remote learning, our talented artists have enjoyed focusing on work relating to 3-point perspective drawing. They have developed an applied knowledge of horizon lines, vanishing points, the zenith and the nadir.

Girls have investigated how mathematics plays a vital role in developing artwork, particularly in relation to perspective or when producing work that is anamorphic in nature. Over the course of the Term, they have taken inspiration from many sources including Renaissance art like The Holy Trinity by Masaccio and more contemporary anamorphic artists such as Jonty Hurwitz.
