Equestrian Success: Hebe and Millie qualify for prestigious competitions

We are incredibly proud of Hebe B. (Year 7) and Millie M-L. (Year 6), two talented equestrians who continue to shine in their competitions. Often competing side by side, their friendship extends beyond the ring - even their horses are friends!

Hebe’s journey to nationals

Hebe has been riding since the age of 5 and has shown remarkable dedication to the sport. Later this year, she will represent St Mary’s at the NSEA National Showjumping Championships. This weekend, Hebe achieved an equally impressive result, placing 1st out of 89 riders in the Pony Club Area 80cm Showjumping Qualifiers and securing her spot at the National Spring Championships in March.

With dreams of one day reaching the Olympics, she hopes to pursue eventing - a demanding equestrian triathlon that includes dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.

Reflecting on her experiences, Hebe shares:

"It was quite nerve-racking. The lead-up to the jumping is scary, but when I get into the ring, there is no stopping me."

Millie’s road to Hickstead

Millie has been passionate about riding since she was just three years old and dreams of being selected for the Olympic team. She will join Hebe in representing St Mary’s at the National Schools Showjumping Championships. Millie has also qualified for the Pony Club Spring Championships, placing 2nd in the 80cm class and 1st out of 74 riders in the 90cm class, a qualifying round for U24 Pony Club riders in East Anglia.

Speaking about her achievement, Millie says:

"Riding is hard work, but I was very proud of myself when I found out I had qualified for Hickstead."

Both girls have shown incredible dedication and perseverance in their equestrian pursuits, and we are excited to follow their journeys as they compete on national stages. Congratulations, Hebe and Millie!
