County Hockey Champions!
We’re delighted to report that the St Mary’s under-16 Hockey A team won the Tier 3 County Tournament this week. The team, with girls from both Years 10 and 11, beat Kings School Ely and Joyce Frankland Academy, and drew with Saffron Walden County High School. This meant the tournament went to penalty flicks – a nail-biting finish which St Mary’s won 2-1. The team will now progress to the regional Tier 3 tournament.
It was a thrilling day. David Grammer, founder of the Hockey Coaching Academy, was there to give coaching advice, and our Director of Sport Miss Louise Powell also came along to lend her support, which was much appreciated by the girls.
The team included: (from Year 11) Ella B., Izzy S., Julia M., Lucia C., Amy R., Emma A., Eloise S., Connie P. and (from Year 10) Jessica A., Izzy C., Carlotta H., Freya C., Marennah P., Caitlin B., Isla T. and Mariella R. We are very proud of them all.
