Celebrating sporting success at St Mary’s
On Thursday 27 April, students, parents, family members and friends all gathered to collectively celebrate the outstanding sporting achievements of our students at our highly anticipated annual Sports Awards Dinner.
A highlight in our school calendar, the event helps to shine a spotlight on the achievements that our girls have made in sport – recognising their talents through speeches and an award-giving ceremony. This year, our awards night was presented by three of our students, Connie P. (Y12), who is our Sports Captain, Anna H. (Y13), who is our Head Girl, and Sophie H. (Y13), who is also a Sports Captain. Awards on the night included the Most Improved Player, Valuable Player, Supportive Team Player and Commitment to School Sport.
Students were also treated to an empowering and informative speech by GB Paralympian, Louis Rolfe MBE. He spoke about his life as a cyclist and how in 2016 he became a Paralympic Gold Medal winner. Following Louis’ insightful speech, it was time for the eagerly awaited awards to be presented. Our congratulations go to everyone who received recognition of their talent and efforts throughout the year. Details of all our deserving winners are below:
