Celebrating sporting success at St Mary's awards dinner
On Thursday 10th May – for the first time since the pandemic halted live events – students, parents, family members and friends gathered together to celebrate the exceptional sporting achievements of our students at the annual St Mary’s Sports Awards Dinner.
Every year, this highly anticipated event shines a spotlight on the achievements that our girls have made in sport – recognising their talents with speeches and an award-giving ceremony. Dressing up for the occasion, our girls enjoyed the chance to collectively celebrate sport at St Mary’s. Awards on the night included Supportive Team Player, Sports Team Captain of the Year, and the Special Recognition award.
The evening also saw special guest speaker Sean Rose, UK Paralympics Skier, give an emotive speech about how he turned an accident into a positive life changing experience. Inspiring our girls with his resilience, he spoke about his high-level sporting achievements and his journey since he was injured. Encouraging our students to find their passions, Sean shared details of the many adventures he has been on in his life including flying planes, kite sailing and crossing the largest glacier in the world.
Following Sean’s speech, it was time for the eagerly awaited awards to be presented. Our congratulations go to everyone who received recognition of their talent and efforts throughout the year. Details of all the deserving winners are below:
