St Mary's to open new Preschool

After careful planning and consultation, the governors have approved the expansion of our Junior School, with the opening of a new St Mary’s Preschool in September 2021. This will extend our provision for girls to 3-18 years of age, providing a much-requested option for the younger sisters of our current school pupils.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming a new cohort to our St Mary’s family in September; as in the rest of St Mary’s Junior School, we will inspire the girls from day one, nurturing the girls’ curiosity, creativity and confidence. St Mary’s Preschool, situated in the Coach House, will offer every opportunity to shine, supporting and engaging the girls at this key stage of their development.

Our Preschool will follow an individualised learning programme that is tailored to each child's own developmental needs and will be based on a new St Mary’s Early Years Curriculum, written specifically for our girls.

Learning in the Preschool Class will be mainly based on experiential play, with support and challenge provided by the teacher and Early Years Assistant. Some direct teaching will take place, usually in small groups, with a focus on early phonics skills and mathematics.
