St Mary’s theatre star shines bright on ITV
St Mary’s was a buzz with excitement on Friday after Year 3 student, Phoebe W., delivered a dazzling national TV performance alongside Call the Midwife star, Helen George. The live appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ was to promote the upcoming national tour of hit musical production ‘The King and I, which both Helen and Phoebe will star in this year.
The multi award-winning Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘The King and I’, directed by Tony Award-winning Bartlett Sher, is embarking on a national tour, following its critically acclaimed sold out season at the London Palladium. Phoebe will star as one of the children in the production, alongside more than 50 other talented performers and a full-scale orchestra.
This Morning viewers were treated to a sneak peak of what’s to come from the lavish production with a stunning, full-costumed performance of ‘Getting To Know You’, which was delivered beautifully by Helen, who plays the lead role of Anna Leonowens. Phoebe and other children from the production supported Helen with their incredible singing, dancing and acting abilities.
Well done Phoebe on such an outstanding performance on This Morning. We wish you the best of luck for the opening night of ‘The King and I’ – we know you will be amazing.
