A curious theatre trip for students
On Thursday 3 March Year 10 Drama and English students, as well as some of our A Level Mathematics students, watched the exciting and dynamic performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time at The Gielgud Theatre in London. Adapted from the popular novel by Mark Haddon, which many of the girls have read, the play uses a most creative mixture of story-telling, physical theatre and imaginative design elements which kept the girls gripped throughout. Ms Esther Roberts, who accompanied the girls, commented that, having seen the touring production last year, she was ‘curious’ to see it back in the West End once again and was delighted to discover some new additional theatrical elements which enhanced the show further. By all accounts the ensemble was outstanding and really made an impact on the audience. As the show has won seven Olivier Awards – including Best Play – it is perfect for the girls to evaluate as part of their written GCSE coursework, which will soon begin in earnest.
