A Feast of Words and Creativity: Year 7 Celebrates World Book Day
This week, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) was transformed above and beyond literary haven into an enchanting World Book Day celebration, as Year 7 students gathered for a Tea Party amidst the shelves of beloved books. Students indulged in biscuits while sipping refreshing squash and aromatic tea, surrounded by book-related activities laid on for this special day.
The celebration featured video presentations from renowned World Book Day authors, who captivated the young audience with passionate introductions to their latest works. Students' eyes gleamed with inspiration as they listened to various authors share their creative journeys.
The afternoon blossomed into a hub of artistic expression with a variety of hands-on activities. Nimble fingers folded colourful paper into intricate origami creations, while others designed personalised bookmarks that reflected their literary tastes. A particular highlight was the Polaroid station, where students posed with props representing their favourite authors and literary characters, creating tangible memories of their bookish adventures.
As the celebration drew to a close, the atmosphere settled into a peaceful rhythm as students found cosy corners for quiet reading. The gentle rustle of turning pages and looks of concentration revealed young minds traveling through distant worlds and extraordinary tales, perfectly concluding an afternoon dedicated to the magic of literature.
