Year 9 and Year 10 enjoy their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice expeditions

St Mary's students and supporting staff have been making the most of the great outdoors in preparation for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards in the first school trip since the pandemic began.

Students in Year 9 and 10 were happy to be able to share the experience of practising for their Bronze Award expedition - especially Year 10 girls, who sadly had to postpone their plans in 2020, due to the pandemic.

Meeting ducklings, alpacas and horses along the way... the intrepid teams navigated their way through Essex, working together to make sure they stayed on track. This expedition is just one part of this challenging and enjoyable award scheme, which encourages young people to broaden their 'soft skills' in areas such as communication, leadership, commitment and teamwork.
