Art and Photography students create entire galaxies of imaginative work despite lockdown restrictions

As A Level Art and Photography students continued their studies during lockdown they reflected on Mars exploration projects coming to fruition in February 2021, with the success of both the NASA Perseverance and the United Arab Emirates Space Agency Hope missions.

These distant adventures in hope and perseverance inspired students to undertake their very own solar system exploration. Experimenting with photo editing, graphics and manipulation software, students used lockdown studies to develop new creative skills.

Seeking ideas and inspiration from the work of astrophotographers such as Marcel Drechsler, students researched techniques deployed in this most challenging of photographic genres. They developed a particular interest in ‘astrobin-Women Astrophotographers’ a digital platform for female enthusiasts to congregate and share their passion for this art-science form.

Please enjoy the wonderful, fictional and fantastical nebula and galaxies that our students have created ... entire solar systems await discovery!
