Fun Run fundraising
It was announced in whole school assembly on Friday 29 September that the school would be supporting the Congregation of Jesus (CJ) sisters in a future mission. Students and staff members were shown photos of an empty field in Mbizo, Kwekwe, and were asked to visualize the land as it is expected to look in the years ahead. The ambition for the bit of land is to build a Mary Ward secondary school. The school has a well-established relationship with the CJ community, having supported a number of projects across the world, and as plans for the proposed secondary school project are now with the City Council, awaiting approval, we are delighted to be pledging as a community to raise funds.
One way we will do so is through our annual fundraising Fun Run, which takes place on the last day of this half term. This year’s Fun Run theme – Toy Shop – was announced, and students and staff were encouraged to dress up as their favourite toys to run around Coe Fen. Everyone in the school is invited to participate in the annual charity run and this year we look forward to our governors joining in the fun, which involves five laps of the Fen. The target is for every girl to gain a £1 donation from 20 different family members or friends, to amount to a total of £11,000 to £12,000.
Good luck to all the runners, don’t forget to fundraise!
